Well what a wonderful exciting beautiful adventure filled week it has been!! I don't really believe in luck, however if I did I'd say that us here at Three Girls are on a winning streak and better take advantage of it and head to Vegas soon!! I can relate anything to make an excuse to go back to Vegas. Nonetheless, since I don't believe in luck its safe to say that we are three extremely blessed ladies. If know us then you know that we sometimes (if sometimes means every other day) make sarcastic comments about how the universe is against us (sometimes we honestly believe it). Over a month ago we were all borderline depressed about the mediocre lives we were leading and the drab winter weather. The peak of our constant whining/seasonal depression was about the time we started this blog; I guess we thought the world wanted to read about a bunch of whiney girls. However, fast forward to now and we have so much to rejoice about! The things that were just a distant daydream a month ago are now materializing right in front of our eyes. When we started this blog we were applying for internships, looking for a house, and just learning how to become productive adults. Its all starting to come together, finally. Here are some of the things we are beyond excited and thankful for:
All the hard work is paying off.
We've landed interviews and internships!! Even though our summer plans have slightly changed were all getting to gain knowledge and experience in different ways this summer. For Magnolia June all she wanted was to intern at a nonprofit company doing special events and fundraising events. MJ got offered a great internship for the Arts Council (think festival of the arts, twilight concert series, and storyteller Sundays) and of course she accepted!! Georgia Rae's major does not require an internship which can really lift a lot of weight off a girls shoulders. She decided that this summer she'll be staying in Stillwater (lucky!) and taking classes. She may even work for a local accounting firm and get some extra hours of experience. Belle Star has had several interviews and now she's playing the waiting game and sitting by the phone ready to hear some awesome news!! We'll obviously keep you updated. The search is over!!!!!
This is the newest and to us the most exciting news! We've been feverishly looking high and low for the perfect home for the next year in our lives. We've been what some may call "house snobs." Now we understand that being renters in a college town your standards and expectations need to be lowered to being okay with a house that may have stained carpet, small bedrooms, no yard/porch, and old appliances to name a few of the characteristics of most rent houses in Stillwater. However, we do not understand the concepts of settling or lowering our standards. And MJ wouldn't commit to a year long lease unless she felt like if the house were a boy she'd be willing to marry it. Its probably a good thing that we have high standards and commitment issues. Because you know what, those things about us lead us to the perfect home!! We got the call this morning from the landlord that we were chosen to live in our fairy tale house! MJ has been eyeing this house for quite sometime thinking how cute it was. When we saw the for rent sign posted in the front yard we just had to call. We were half expecting it to either not be a three bedroom or to be told they just had another group sign the lease just hours before. However, to our disbelief and excitement neither of these were the case. The house was a three bedroom and had not yet been rented out! We went and looked at it earlier this week and it was perfect everything we had hoped for and more. The main characteristics on our wish list were 3 reasonably sized rooms, front or back porch, open floor plan, original hardwood floor, no chain link fences, and no detached garage (the last two were both requests of MJ; she's kinda weird). We felt that wasn't so unreasonable. Sorry we know what we want. This house meets all our expectations and more!! First off, since we began looking yellow houses catch our eyes we think they are beyond precious and just make you think of a happy home. What a coincidence the house is yellow with white detailing! Huh, how neat. Okay now to what else this house offers:
3 bedrooms that are able to accommodate at least a full size bed with room to still have a dresser, desk, and night stand.
a large covered from porch AND another large enclosed back porch.
semi open floor plan it is an older house therefore the floor plan isn't as open as new homes. However, the living room and formal dining room and very large and only separated by a wide arch way giving the area a spacious yet still cozy feel.
Yes, we did in fact find a home with original hard floors that are in immaculate condition.
Ok the house lacks a privacy fence (MJ would rather have no fence than a chain link fence) and its sad to say it does have a detached garage (MJ's greatest fear; luckily the landlord keeps its locked up). However, it makes up for those faults in its unique charm. It has whimsical arched doors leading to the bedrooms/bathrooms, vintage chandeliers/light fixtures in several rooms, hand painted tiles and vintage bathtub in the upstairs bathroom, and built in shelving galore.
We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Midterms are coming to a close and with only a few more projects, homework assignments, and then finals left. Us here at Three Girls are finally gaining a little extra time to enjoy things like biking, reading on the sun deck, hanging out with our favorite boys at 12th&walnut, and making appearances on Washington street.
We think that buckling down and getting stuff done is making us appreciate finally reaping the benefits of a less stressful more fun life.
Ohhh P.S. we titled this post how ironic because our new landlord is a nazi when it comes to pets. We had to pretend we hated those furry creature to get the house. She asked is we had any aspirations of ever owning a pet and we remember thinking hopefully she never finds out about our blog (the title of the blog would have ruined our chances of getting our perfect home). So even though we had wished to have a dog and too many cats we'll have to settle for posters and statues of our fluffy friends.
